Pohorje Invites You to a Lively Winter Weekend with Activities for All Generations

An exceptionally vibrant winter weekend with a diverse range of activities awaits visitors at the Mariborsko Pohorje and Areh ski resort, offering something for both skiers and those looking for active leisure time and fun snow experiences. Current conditions allow for excellent slope preparation, while a rich accompanying program will further enhance the lively atmosphere of the resort. Starting tomorrow, connections between the Maribor and Areh sections will reopen, and the highlight of the weekend will be the opening of the Čopova Trail down to the valley on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

In addition to daytime skiing, visitors can enjoy night skiing from Thursday to Saturday between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with illuminated slopes stretching from the top of Mariborsko Pohorje down to the valley. At the same time as night skiing, snow tubing will also take place at the Bellevue sledding area. Wednesdays, meanwhile, are reserved for winter tricycles on the slope below Sleme between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, traditional pležuh sled rides will be introduced for the first time. These runs will take place from the top to the valley along the Čopova Trail between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. From next week onward, in addition to Sundays, pležuh rides are planned every day after night skiing, between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

A true winter atmosphere and post-ski relaxation will be provided this Saturday by two major events featuring good music, socializing, and a cozy winter vibe:

  • Frajer Ski Day at the Trikotna jasa mountain hut starting at 12:00 p.m. – an après-ski party with a welcome drink, prize games, and musical guests,
  • Après-ski party at Hotel Habakuk starting at 3:00 p.m. – a winter treat with culinary offerings, live music, and a pležuh race.

In addition, the Slovenian national championship for children in freestyle skiing will take place on Saturday at Areh in the Žigart Fun Park, where young talents will showcase their skills in exciting freestyle disciplines.

On Sunday, another weekend highlight will follow – free workshops with professional Elan skiers, intended for anyone wishing to improve their technique and learn the basics of freestyle skiing. Free testing of Elan skis will also be available.

To ensure easier access to the ski resort, the following options remain available:

  • Free transport for skiers on bus line G6 Vzpenjača on Saturdays and Sundays, supported by the Municipality of Maribor,
  • Free parking at Tabor Hall with a nearby stop on the G6 Dvorana Tabor – Gorkega,
  • Additional parking below Pohorje at Vila Mari, with a shuttle connection to the lower station of the circular cable car.

The response to the free transport service last weekend was very encouraging: the G6 line transported nearly 220 skiers over Saturday and Sunday, while the shuttle service below Pohorje was fully occupied during morning arrival times.

In case of queues at ticket offices, tickets can also be purchased at three ticket machines – at the upper station of the Pohorje cable car and at the lower stations of the Ruška and Pisker chairlifts. Weekend tickets can also be purchased in advance at ticket offices during the week.

You are warmly invited to Mariborsko Pohorje and Areh, which will serve up an attractive combination of sports, entertainment, and winter experiences for all generations this weekend.
