The first two competition days of the World Para Alpine Skiing Championships have brought outstanding performances in the giant slalom. After yesterday’s women’s races, today it was the men’s turn to take on the slopes.
In the visually impaired category, Italy’s Giacomo Bertagnolli launched a strong attack in the second run to claim gold, overtaking Canada’s Kalle Ericsson, who had led after the first run, by just 0.32 seconds. The bronze medal went to Poland’s Michal Golas.
In the standing category, France’s Arthur Bauchet secured the world champion title with an excellent second run, further extending his lead and earning a well-deserved victory. Canadian Alexis Guimond took silver, while another Frenchman, Jules Segers, claimed the bronze medal.
The sitting category saw an intense battle for gold, with France’s Rene De Silvestro emerging victorious after an impressive performance. Norway’s Jesper Pedersen secured silver, and the Netherlands’ Jeroen Kampschreur took bronze.
Yesterday, in excellent conditions on the giant slalom course, the women’s races took place. Austria’s Veronika Aigner was crowned world champion in the visually impaired category, Sweden’s Ebba Aarsjoe won the standing category, and Japan’s Momoka Muraoka triumphed in the sitting category.
The World Championships continue in the coming days with the slalom events. The men’s race is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by the women’s slalom on Tuesday.

To make access easier, a free chairlift service from Radvanje will be available on Monday and Tuesday during the races. The event can also be followed in the finish arena of the Snow Stadium via an LCD screen. For those unable to attend in person, a live broadcast will be available on BK TV and the official championship website.
