In 2024, Bike Park Pohorje Maribor has introduced numerous innovations and improvements that are exciting both local and international mountain biking enthusiasts. The park stands out for its variety and challenging trails, making it one of the most popular mountain biking centers in Slovenia and the wider region. This year, nearly 20,000 cyclists have already visited, which is double the number from the same period last year.
New Trails: Red Fox and Amerika
In 2024, Bike Park Pohorje Maribor expanded its trail network with two new tracks suitable for riders of various skill levels. In the Bolfenk sector, we built the Red Fox Trail, designed for those who enjoy fast and smooth rides. It is enhanced with wooden structures and interesting natural obstacles. In the Areh sector, we developed the Amerika Trail, which offers a longer, more technically challenging route, favored by more experienced riders. The Amerika Trail stands out for its diverse terrain, combining fast descents with technical sections.
For cyclists who love competitive courses, this year brought significant upgrades to the legendary World Cup track. A new section in the 1st forest near the Luka cabin offers extra challenges with steeper descents and technical parts. We also redesigned the final sections of the World Cup and Flow Line tracks, incorporating attractive wooden and dirt features. At the same time, we adjusted the track’s speed, allowing for even more fun and safety on the descents.
Trail Repairs After Winter
The 2023/2024 winter season had a significant impact on the condition of the biking trails, making extensive maintenance work necessary this year. This was especially true for the Ruška Flow and Ruška Family trails, which are among the most popular for families and less experienced riders. We also refreshed the famous Red Line track, which is once again in top shape and ready for the continuation of the season in autumn.
Ambitious Plans with the Skills Park
Among this year’s improvements in Bike Park Pohorje Maribor, a notable one is the adjustment of the Skills Park finish area, now featuring an inflatable landing pad. This allows cyclists to safely practice jumps and tricks, which is crucial for their progression.
Additionally, we have started building a new Skills Park near the lower station of the circular cable car of the Pohorje funicular. This will be primarily aimed at beginners and those who want to improve their technical skills in a safe environment.
The year 2024 has been a groundbreaking year for Bike Park Pohorje Maribor, with numerous new features and exciting events, such as the national downhill championship. Meanwhile, we are already planning the construction of several additional trails to continue developing and expanding the park, solidifying its role as one of the leading mountain biking centers in Slovenia.
Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or just starting your journey, we invite you to Bike Park Pohorje Maribor to experience the diverse trails and immerse yourself in the adrenaline-filled atmosphere of the descents.
